Electrostatic discharge of plastic parts on conveyor belts

Application: Injection moulded parts on conveyor belt or in collector bin, protection from over-sparking, transported material sticks on the conveyor, materials stick together

KIST + ESCHERICH Electrostatic discharge of plastic parts on conveyor belts

Initial situation

Small plastic parts are transported on a conveyor belt into a collector. Electrostatic charges arise during separation of the parts from the tool or through friction on the conveyor belt. Because of the electrostatic charges, parts may stick to the conveyor belt and generate high static charges in the collector bin as well. High electrostatic charges may attract dust and particles, cause problems with the further processing of parts or generate painful shocks to the operator.

Solution

In order to remove electrostatic charges from the small plastic parts and conveyor belts without compressed air support over longer distances and at high transport speeds free of streaks and as required, SMART ION ionization bars are used at distances of 100 mm to 1,500 mm and for transport speeds of up to 1,300 m/min.
