Cleaning fish food cans before labelling
Application: Packaging machines, filling and packaging of foodstuffs or animal feed
Initial situation
When filling plastic cans of different sizes with food substance powders, there will always be potentially disruptive particles of the filling material on the outer surfaces of the cylindrical containers.
These particles could contain allergens or lead to the poor adhesion of labels. Therefore, these need to be removed from the outside surfaces and the bottom areas where the best-before date is stamped before packaging.
Solution
The filled cans pass through a cleaning unit specially designed by KIST + ESCHERICH.
The setup consists of opposing TAIFUN-CLEAN®, special nozzles for cleaning the bottom of the cans, and a belt drive that facilitates the transport and rotation of the containers in the cleaning station.
Ionisation bars eliminate electrostatic charges and adhesion forces on the containers. Rotating nozzles generate a turbulent airstream and release adhering particles from the surface; they are then taken up by a strong suction airstream and fed to an ESUC suction and supply unit.
TAIFUN-CLEAN® rotating nozzles can be equipped with rev speed monitoring and watched via TAIFUN-CLEAN-CONTROL evaluation electronics at the customer's request.
An adjustment wheel for the width of the drive belt makes manual adjustments to different can diameters possible.
The conveying speed of the belt drive can be adapted to the production specifications via a frequency converter in the ESUC supply unit.
