Cleaning the edge strip prior to high-gloss painting in the ATEX hazard zone
Application: cleaning the edge strip after edge trimming and priming (pre-treatment) before UV-painting / high-gloss painting in the ATEX hazard zone, continuous material

Initial situation
Particles remain on the edge strip after the edge trimming step, which then are trapped during painting and lead to visual defects or added scrap. The system is in an ATEX hazard zone.
Solution
Using the STATIK‑AIR® cleaning system with ATEX-certified ionisers before UV painting guarantees consistent product quality and reduces the scrap rate without causing an explosion hazard. The PU55EX high voltage power supply is mounted outside the EX zone. The combination of ionisation, surface blow-off with flat jet nozzles and suction facilitates that the flat surfaces of the edge strip are reliably freed from disrupting particles. The extracted particles are fed to a suction and supply unit outside the ATEX hazardous area and disposed of through a filter.
