Cleaning of decorative foil prior to painting/coating
Application: cleaning of films, decorative foils, compact plates, furniture, coating systems, edge strips, decorative parts, film and foil finishing, cutting scrap and punch and drilling burrs on edges of materials, crimped cable ends

Initial situation
Decorative films with an embossed, structured surface (e.g., wood grain) may become contaminated with pulverised material during production, with residues from the manufacturing equipment or colour micro-particles from the printing machine (sometimes partly dissolved with solvent), which all must be removed before painting in order to minimise waste. These particles adhere so strongly that they cannot be cleaned off without contact.
Solution
A ROTORCLEAN unit is installed in the existing printing machine for cleaning before the top of the film or foil is painted. The cleaning unit is height adjustable for exact distances and for threading the foil web and can be swivelled upwards by 90° for cleaning or maintenance work. Rotating brushes, supported by compressed air, loosen even strongly adhering impurities, which then are whirled up by the extracting airstream and fed into the designated filter station. The application is classified as Ex-Hazard Zone 1 (area where danger of explosion exists). Therefore, only components with EX approval were used. The control cabinet is located outside the EX-protection zone. Speed settings for the cleaning brushes are done via a frequency converter.
