Electrostatic discharge at manual workplaces in a clean room
Application: elimination of electrostatic charges in the clean room, air purity class ISO 5 acc. to DIN ISO 14644-1
Initial situation
During processing of parts by the operator at hand-work places in clean rooms, electrostatic charges can arise from different production steps. Electrostatic charges may attract ambient dust or processing residues and lead to quality problems. Compliance issues with clean room specifications and over-sparking to the operator may occur and make further processing of the parts more difficult.
Solution
Ionizing bars of the SMART ION series with DC pulse technology and with large effective distance are mounted above the workstation. High-voltage generation and control electronics are integrated in the SMART ION and generate a pulsating DC high voltage with positive and negative ion decoupling. In addition, the ions are transported towards the workstation and assemblies by the existing laminar air flow, resulting in the neutralisation of existing charges on surfaces.
