Cleaning of cable and on-board network systems
Application: Manufacturing cable assemblies for the automotive industry

Initial situation
Finished cable assemblies usually consist of one or several cables with insulation, plugs, bus bars with cover, as well as various clips and cable ties. The length of a cable assembly ranges between 0.20 m to approx. 1.80 m. Metallic and non-metallic particles from previous assembly steps may accumulate on the surface of the cable assemblies.
These particulate contaminants must be reduced as much as possible in a final cleaning step, before the assemblies are packaged.
Solution
The basis of the cleaning machine for cable systems is a TRAYMASTER with top and bottom cleaning in combination with a continuous conveyor system. A belt conveyor is used for the safe transport of the cable assemblies through the cleaning system with strong suction and compressed air flow. In the cleaning area, a wire mesh belt ensures minimum shadowing of the compressed air cleaning.
The cable assemblies are placed manually on the conveyor belt and transported through the cleaning area at a speed of approximately 6 m/min. The working distance of the upper carriage is automatically adjusted according to the current part height. The cleaned parts are accepted by the operator; if required, a DMC (Data Matrix Code) is scanned manually and reported to the customer's MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
For maintenance purposes, accessibility to the underside cleaning is made possible through a special maintenance pull-out.
