Discover at the TECH Center how your metal and plastic assemblies can be connected without additional material. You can try the hyJOIN® technology on our realistic test and demonstration systems.
Our team of experts, together with you, analyses your challenges and advises you on the design of the joining areas. Depending on the complexity of your assemblies, we set up geometry-specific joining tools or use existing laboratory equipment to produce prototypes. We are able to utilise extensive analysis equipment to quickly verify the connection quality.

Consultation regarding the assembly design and joining interface
We analyse your assembly and process requirements and check the feasibility of applying our hyJOIN® process. We evaluate the material combination you have chosen and identify possible adjustments to the assembly in order to create an ideal joining connection.

Designing the joining tool and process
We develop component-specific joining tools to produce prototypes. The geometric design is done using FE simulations. This enables us to simulate the heat field distribution even in complex assemblies and to make initial estimates of the process time. The joining tools are manufactured and put into service in the TECH Center hyJOIN® laboratory.

Manufacturing initial samples and prototypes
Our engineers will be happy to build the desired hybrid connections in your presence. A variety of different joining devices are available for that purpose. Alternative options are component-specific joining tools, which enable the production of prototypes for subsequent validation tests on-site at your company. Our detailed production documentation and inline process monitoring guarantee reproducible connection qualities even at this stage in the development.

Analysing the joining connections
The wide range of application areas for our hyJOIN® joining technology also requires varied test and analysis routines. For media-tight assemblies, we check the tightness of the connection or determine the maximum burst pressure. If the focus is on joint strength, destructive tensile, shear or combined mechanical stress tests are carried out during the process. Cross-sections of the connection are evaluated at selected points using light microscopy and thus can provide a detailed insight into the connection quality.
